How to make beautiful henna designs in home
Although you can find henna paste ready for usage in the markets, there is a method of making easy henna design for you and for your kids at home, which is one of the best methods, and it is free of chemicals:
Henna paste
Home-made henna gives a better color and lasts longer, and the following explains how you can make it.
Ingredients:
- Natural henna powder.
- Lemon juice.
- 3 drops of eucalyptus oil (زيت الكافور).
How to prepare:
- Mix one part of lemon juice with three parts of water.
- Add eucalyptus oil and henna powder to the mixture, and mix well to form a creamy paste that is smooth, not too thick or thin.
- Leave the mixture for 6-7 hours.
- Make 2-3 small cones, using polythene paper (ورق متعدد الإيثيلين) with adhesive in the inner corners and center to increase its strength and hold while making its edge sharp.
- Put the paste inside the cone using a spoon while the cone is closed well with the adhesive tape.
- Cut the bottom of the cone to begin design your henna.
Henna and black tea
You can also prepare henna paste with black tea.
Ingredients:
- 2 black tea bags
- A glass of water
- 2 tablespoons of henna powder
- Plastic bag
How to prepare:
- Boil a cup of water, and add black tea bags to it.
- Remove tea bags and leave the liquid to cool.
- Put 3-4 spoons of black tea in a plastic bag.
- Add 2 tablespoons of henna powder, and mix the ingredients inside the bag well until they are free of lumps and mixture is similar to cake mixture.
- Cut the edge of the plastic bag to take out the henna mixture of it and transfer it to the tool you want to use to draw henna design.
Henna and lemon
This is another way to make henna paste to draw beautiful henna designs.
Ingredients:
- A quarter cup of fresh henna leaves or henna powder.
- A half cup of fresh filtered from seeds lemon juice.
- A quarter cup of oil.
How to prepare:
- Sift the henna powder and in case the henna was from the leaves, you need to crush it to get the henna powder.
- Put henna in a small bowl and add lemon juice or water to it. Mix well to get a mixture with a texture similar to mashed potatoes.
- Cover the henna with a plastic wrap for 24 hours at room temperature.
- Remove the layer that appears from the dye over the henna mixture with a spoon.
- Add a quarter cup of lemon juice to the henna mixture gradually and mix well to get a paste that has the consistency of yogurt.
- Put Henna mixture in a cone to use it, and after applying the henna to your body and after it dries spray it with spray gel in order to coat the henna from the outside with a light layer so that it does not crack, then use a hair dryer to increase the speed of the drying of the henna design.
- Spray another layer of hair gel to the Henna design and wrap the pattern with gauze (الشاش). Leave the pattern for 12 hours, or an entire night.
- Remove dry henna using olive oil or coconut oil. Use a piece of cloth moistened with a mild soap and water to remove dry henna flakes residue gently. Apply olive oil to the Henna design to keep color longer.
Arabic Henna designs
Henna design originated in Arab countries and gained popularity in Asia, particularly in India and Pakistan, and often combines Indian and Arabic motifs leading to the emergence of different styles. The Arabic henna designs is a work of art of flowers characterized by successive free style and the floral designs are repeated in a geometric pattern covering the entire hands and feet, and the design is prominent as it is created with dark brown henna and its borders of black henna and in thin and elegant lines.
How to draw Eid henna designs

- Make a thick mixture of lemon and sugar, and when the pattern is dry immerse a piece of cotton in the mixture and dip the liquid on the pattern to prevent it from cracking and getting a darker color.
- Leave the henna pattern for at least 5 hours, preferably for 10-12 hours.
- You can heat a little clove powder (مسحوق القرنفل) in a pan and expose your hands to smoke for a while.
- Remove the pattern using a spoon or through a butter knife, without washing it with soap and water, and it is recommended to avoid washing your hands for a few hours.
